Emission Legislation

With the upcoming European Union legislation on dust and powder emissions coming into effect no later than December 4th, 2023, there is an imperative need for all processors and manufacturers affected by this legislation to have their approvals reviewed and to ensure compliance with the new emission standards by the specified deadline.

This legislation draws its authority from the framework established by:

  • EU Directive 2010/75/EU dated November 24, 2010, known as the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED), which lays down rules for preventing, reducing, and as far as possible eliminating pollution arising from industrial activities.

  • Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/2031 of November 12, 2019, which specifically addresses standards and technical specifications for monitoring and controlling emissions from industrial sources.

As part of this legislative update, a series of new Best Available Technologies (BAT) has been proposed to ensure that the industries can meet the updated emission requirements effectively. The adoption of these BATs is crucial for industries to not only comply with the new EU directives but also to minimize their environmental impact while maintaining operational efficiency.

It's essential for businesses within the scope of this legislation to familiarize themselves with the details of the new BAT recommendations and to implement necessary changes in their operations to align with these updated standards. Compliance not only ensures legal conformity but also supports environmental sustainability and public health protection efforts across the EU.
